Author/entertainer Bill Dyszel has written and performed a tribute to folded magazines called “Morbid Major Magazine Song,” which chronicles the many magazines that have fallen by the wayside in recent years. It was written in October, so others like Financial Week and Radar are not included.

Credit should be given to the composer (Sir Arthur Sullivan), and I suspect the inspiration for this was not the Gilbert & Sullivan original but Tom Lehrer’s Elements Song. There’s a really nice Flash animation of the latter at http://www.privatehand.com/flash/elements.html.

You’re right, Arthur Sullivan is given due credit on the YouTube posting, and Tom Lehrer’s influence is undeniable. Lehrer’s is still the most durable parody of this tune, IMHO, but the situation seemed to suit this one well enough.
