A screenshot of the web interface for the journal Patterns, which is supproted by the Editorial Manager system (an Aries Product). In this screen, a user is directed to select the Articley Type, noted with a blue arrow along a workflow process chart, where selecting the afticle type is the first step in the submission process. A smaller text block in the main portion of the image describes the process for selecting the Article Type, with text that links to author resources and a note about the types of materials that are accepted. This text block ends with a drop down list in the bottom center-left that reads “None”. A greyed-out box labled “Proceed” with an arrow. Here one must select the option from the list before the Proceed button changes color and one can advance. The drop-down box is not visisble to screen readers.
