For some the summer is a time of leisure, but for many of us, it’s a busy time for publishing and society meetings. We’re due for a week off, and will be back with new posts on July 13.

In the meantime, for those celebrating the 4th of July this weekend, I’ll leave you with one of the greatest of American bands, X, and their version of Dave Alvin’s “4th of July”. I know I’ve posted this in the past, but I’m still not tired of it, some 28 years later. Seriously, how many bands can claim to have spearheaded two separate musical genres, first LA punk, and then later, as The Knitters, the alt.country scene?
