Mark Huskisson looks at the open source tools enabling a world of scholarly communication that is more broadly global, diverse, and inclusive than is perhaps recognized.
Mark Huskisson is the Publishing Specialist at the Public Knowledge Project and the co-chair of the Assembly of the Commons at OPERAS, the European Research Infrastructure. He also works with a diverse range of clients with the Husk Agency Limited, collaborating on commercial sustainability and fostering open infrastructure initiatives for scholarly publishing. He began his career developing strategic library and ebook initiatives at Cambridge University Press, joining YBP (now EBSCO) as a library vendor, before joining the start-up, EBook Library (EBL now ProQuest Books) as VP for Publisher Relations. Working throughout the transition from print to e, he has wrestled with and championed evolving business models (OA and Patron Driven Acquisition in particular) where the desire for – and challenge – of change has been a constant and welcome companion.
