Guest Post — May the AI Be With Science
AI has opened a new chapter in the saga of science and peer review. Today, guest author Prof. Nihar B. Shah explains how, if guided with integrity, AI can open galaxies of possibilities.
Nihar B. Shah is an Associate Professor in the Machine Learning and Computer Science departments at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on peer review, developing computational tools with strong mathematical guarantees on performance, and conducting experiments for evidence-based policy design. His work has been used in the review of well over a hundred thousand papers and thousands of proposals, as well as in other applications such as admissions and competitions. He is reachable at nihars@cs.cmu.edu and is always excited to talk about peer review and the scientific research process. The author’s photo is from his talk at the Peer Review Congress and is credited to Ted Grudzinski, American Medical Association.
