Cenyu Shen is the Deputy Head of Editorial (Quality) for the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), leading the Quality Team to keep DOAJ away from questionable publishing. Since 2016, she has also been the DOAJ Ambassador for China, building cooperation with Chinese scholarly societies and publishing organizations and establishing DOAJ’s Chinese journals community to help more local journals be indexed in DOAJ. Cenyu received her PhD in Information Systems Science at Hanken School of Economics in Finland. She worked on open access (OA) research with a particular focus on gold OA and its sustainable development and problems of questionable publishing for many years.
In this post we reflect on the current threats to trust in scholarly journal publishing, and the implications for organizations like Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) that seek to uphold that trust.
