“It’s 2016, and most words have been replaced with emojis,” or so Stephen Colbert tells us (he feels a bit “happy face, party popper, party popper, dolphin” about this). But where do these emoji come from and what is the approval process required by the Unicode Consortium? Colbert explains below:
