Hello to everyone, I hope you’re hanging in there in our new pandemic reality. One of the interesting cultural shifts I’ve seen is a move toward the use of video for what used to be phone-only conference calls. We’re all feeling a bit isolated, so seeing colleagues’ faces makes a big difference. But it brought to mind the video below, which we originally ran in 2014. Back then, it seemed a funny take on our daily phone experiences, but now the regular addition of video to our conference calls is making it look prophetic.

Update: Tim McGeary in the comments below points us toward the sequel, a videoconferencing call in real life (now below as well). If you thought the phone video was painfully accurate…

In all honesty, I can’t watch that. It’s too painful because it’s totally accurate.

Hang in there, everyone. This too shall pass.

This is absolutely excellent – now my 2nd favourite video on YouTube.

My favourite remains this one (says the Brit with an American wife):

Hi SSP Community and Friends.

A big thank you to The Scholarly Kitchen for a week full of amazing quality and content. You have deftly helped us to work through times like we have never seen before. On a “good day,” I appreciate reading your blog; however, during these weird times, I need it more than ever. Thank you all. Stay safe and healthy!
