For social science and humanities researchers in many parts of the world there are significant barriers to conducting and sharing research, in some cases more so than for science and medicine. In this guest post, Dr. Naveen Minai provides a perspective as a gender studies researcher in Pakistan.
Naveen Zehra Minai holds a PhD in Gender Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. She has taught in Pakistan for the past three years. Her research is interdisciplinary, and focuses transnational literary and visual cultures in South Asia and North America. Her areas of study include women of color and transnational feminisms, queer of color critique, sexualities, masculinities, cultural studies, postcolonial studies, and settler colonial studies.
