The Generations Fund is celebrating a milestone achievement — officially surpassing the halfway mark of its goal of $500,000. The fund is an endowment to provide sustainable funding for Society for Scholarly Publishing’s (SSP’s) Fellowship, Mentoring, and Diversity & Inclusion programs far into the future. Once the goal of $500,000 is reached, fundraising ceases, and programs will be supported by the invested funds. This will provide long-term, dependable resources for programs that advance workforce development and inclusion in the scholarly communications profession.
“The scholarly publishing industry, and most notably, SSP have welcomed and nourished me in a way I would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere,” shares 2017 SSP Fellow, Christen Pruitt. “It is through these programs and donors’ generosity that we not only improve publishing, but the lives of those who work in it.”
Since launching in October 2020, 235 individuals and 24 organizations have donated, raising a total of $259,000 towards our campaign goal of $500,000. SSP will be honoring many of these generous donors at the upcoming 45th Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon.
“If you believe in a cause, you have to invest your time and resources. The Generations Fund was my opportunity to build on the legacy and values that SSP was founded upon,” explains early donor and current president-elect of SSP, Randy Townsend. “I believe in the aspirations and commitments SSP has made to strengthen scholarly communications.”
We would like to extend special acknowledgement to the following supporters:
