Today’s post is from the Scholarly Kitchen Cabinet, a committee of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) that governs the Scholarly Kitchen, written by Dylan Burris on behalf of the group coordinating the survey.

Every few years, The Scholarly Kitchen (TSK) shares a survey with our readers to gather ideas and feedback. That time has come upon us once again, as the 2025 Readership Survey is now open for your comments. We would greatly appreciate you taking the time (estimated just 10-15 minutes) to complete the survey and share your perspective with us. All readers are encouraged to complete the survey, whether you only read the Kitchen occasionally or if it’s a part of your everyday morning routine. Responses are fully anonymous.

The goal of the survey is to help us better understand our community and ensure TSK is continuing to evolve and improve alongside our rapidly changing industry. The Kitchen Cabinet (the SSP committee responsible for supporting TSK) is responsible for the survey. We will be reviewing and analyzing the responses and identifying action items for the blog to ensure it remains the high-quality resource of industry news and discussion. High-level aggregated and anonymized findings will also be shared with the SSP Board and at SSP’s 47th Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD in May.

You can read more about the work done after the previous readership survey (carried out in 2021) in this 2022 post. Your perspective is critical for helping shape the future of The Scholarly Kitchen and ensuring all readers are properly represented in our coverage.

The survey will close on March 7, 2025. All respondents will be entered into a drawing to win one of ten exclusive Scholarly Kitchen aprons. We hope you take a few moments of your day to share your ideas with us by taking the 2025 Readership Survey.

The Scholarly Kitchen Cabinet

The Kitchen Cabinet is the governing body for The Scholarly Kitchen (TSK). Among its responsibilities are settling governance issues, appointing the editor, reporting on TSK metrics and development to the Board of Directors, and making recommendations to the SSP Executive Committee regarding new opportunities for TSK.

Discussion

2 Thoughts on "The 2025 Scholarly Kitchen Readership Survey is Now Open"

I read the Scholarly Kitchen regularly, but I’m retired for almost ten years and find it difficult to complete the survey because I’m not employed. One of my main interests has always been the sorts of issues covered by the Scholarly Kitchen because I remain curious about new developments even in retirement. I continue to occasionally publish, provide comments on social media, and respond to posts and find the Scholarly Kitchen valuable for these reasons. This daily column is so important to me that I have archived all issues for many years.
