While the tradition in the US is for the President to pardon a turkey just before Thanksgiving, sparing at least one bird from a tabletop fate, it seems that former VP candidate and current Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin feels a bit more comfortable with the doomed birds. After performing a similar pardon of a turkey in Alaska, Governor Palin was then interviewed in front of the equivalent of turkey death row:

Of course, there are plenty of reasons this could happen. David Letterman has documented the Top 10 of these.
