Remembering that we are the official blog of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, I’d like to make a few announcements. And it’s merely a coincidence that all of them Boston-centric in some way; this in no way proves once more that Boston truly is the Hub:

  • If you haven’t already signed up to attend the SSP Annual Meeting in Boston this May June 1-3, please do so. It’s a great program, the networking is always fun and interesting, and early June in Boston is like fall, only greener.
  • One of the events at the SSP Annual Meeting will be a repeat of last year’s PowerPoint Karaoke Session, with yours truly and Geoff Bilder responding to slides we’ve never seen before, trading barbs with the audience and one another, and attempting to avoid humiliation at all costs. This time, the ad lib event will be held within temporal and physical proximity to a bar, so the fun should be amplified. To give the evil slidemakers wicked ideas, just visit their page for skullduggery.
  • The SSP routinely profiles one of its members. This month, they’re profiling Nick Lindsay of MIT Press. It’s an interesting interview with a thoughtful guy.

Hope to see you in Boston next month!
